Cookie Policy

Last updated: 15 January 2025. This policy explains what cookies Advoke CV uses and how you can control them.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They serve many purposes — remembering preferences, tracking activity, or providing certain functionality. Cookies are not the only way a website can store information locally; browsers also offer localStorage and sessionStorage, which Advoke CV uses for its tools.

2. Cookies used by Advoke CV

As of the date of this policy, Advoke CV's own pages and tools do not set any tracking cookies. Any preferences that need to persist between page loads are stored in browser localStorage rather than cookies.

Specifically, Advoke CV stores the following in browser localStorage:

  • Resume data you enter in the resume builder (stored under a key prefixed with advoke:).
  • Selected template, accent colour and font preferences.
  • Cover letter, job tracker and other tool data you create in the browser.
  • Theme preference (light or dark) if you toggle it.

None of this is transmitted to Advoke CV's servers. You can clear it at any time from within the tools (Clear buttons), or via your browser's site-data settings.

3. Third-party services

Advoke CV relies on the following third-party services that may involve cookies or similar technologies:

Cloudflare (hosting)

Advoke CV is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may set cookies required for site protection and performance. Refer to Cloudflare's cookie documentation for details.

Google AdSense (advertising) — currently disabled

If advertising is enabled on Advoke CV by the site owner after account approval, Google AdSense will set cookies to serve and measure ads. The exact cookies set depend on Google's settings and the user's region. Google's cookie policy and advertising privacy pages describe these cookies.

Advoke CV does not serve ads by default. Advertising is disabled until the site owner explicitly enables it.

Analytics — currently disabled

If the site owner enables analytics (for example, a self-hosted or privacy-conscious analytics package), that package will be described in this policy at that time, along with instructions on how to opt out.

4. Managing cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View cookies stored on your device.
  • Delete specific cookies or all cookies.
  • Block cookies from specific sites or from all sites.
  • Enable "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control (GPC).

If you block cookies, some functionality of third-party services may not work, but the core Advoke CV tools (which use localStorage rather than cookies) should continue to function normally.

5. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Advoke CV respects the Do Not Track (DNT) signal and Global Privacy Control (GPC) where applicable. If Advoke CV eventually enables third-party analytics or advertising, the site owner will configure those services to respect DNT and GPC where technically supported, and require consent where legally required.

6. Changes to this policy

This cookie policy may be updated to reflect changes in the site. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will change when material revisions are made.
